Hello and welcome to a new school year. I hope that you are as excited as I am to begin this new year. This year we will be studying a variety of topics within science. The sixth graders will learn what it is to think like a scientist using the scientific method while carrying out several labs which will focus on using the metric system. Basic chemistry will be introduced about atoms, molecules and the different phases of matter. Then they will take off and explore the universe like astronauts and learn about the formation of the universe while focusing on our solar system and our planet Earth. We will end the year studying human body systems and introduce plant vs. animal cells, which they will further study in 7th grade.
